BC Highway Patrol have released a video of an electric motorcycle rider who fled a traffic stop in North Vancouver and is asking the public to help identify the rider.
In a news release, BC Highway Patrol said an officer tried to stop the electric motorcycle on Grand Boulevard at 6:11 p.m. on August 28. Police said the rider sped through a stop sign and fled instead of stopping.
The officer reported that the rider showed low skill and nearly collided with another vehicle, the release said. Police said they chose not to pursue the motorcycle to avoid the risk of injury.

Sergeant Michael McLaughlin, a media relations officer with BC Highway Patrol, said in the release that many of the machines do not belong on public roads. “A lot of people are buying electric motorcycles that have no pedals, no signal lights, and no business on public roads,” he said.
McLaughlin said officers are seeing more young riders who try to draw police into a chase. “We’re seeing an increasing number of young riders who attempt to bait police into a pursuit. This is stupid,” he said.
Police said the rider’s face has been blurred in the video because of requirements under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. BC Highway Patrol described the rider as a young male, likely 14 to 18 years old, with a skinny build and a receding chin, wearing a white bicycle helmet with a visor, a black hoodie, black cuffed jeans and black Adidas sneakers.
