Nearly 200 District of West Vancouver residents have ordered trees through the District’s Yard Tree Planting Program for the second year.
According to the news release by the District, the program supports the Urban Forest Management Plan objective of promoting the voluntary planting of about 320 private trees each year.

Residents who ordered a tree will receive an email with instructions to pick it up at the West Vancouver Memorial Library on Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The date was chosen to coincide with the optimal planting season.
Additional trees will be available beginning at noon for residents who were unable to order one in the spring. The trees will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Available species include Paperbark Maple, Hearts of Gold Redbud, Japanese Stewartia and Vine Maple.
Staff and tree experts will be on site to answer questions, assist with loading trees into vehicles, and help residents with their planting efforts. According to the news release, participating residents can help support local biodiversity, improve air quality, and mitigate the effects of climate change.
