The West Vancouver Police are investigating a series of property crimes reported in the Ambleside area, including two overnight break-ins at restaurants and a surge in high-value shoplifting incidents.
According to a Block Watch summary from June 13 to 18, the front doors of two Ambleside eateries were forced open after hours: one was pried open and another smashed. Cash was taken from both locations, and liquor was also stolen in one case. A third restaurant break-in was thwarted when suspects noticed staff still inside and fled empty-handed.
Police also recorded 11 shoplifting cases from retailers near Marine Drive and Taylor Way since the previous update. Two of those thefts involved goods valued at more than $5,000. Suspects were identified or arrested in five of the 11 files. Other incidents include the theft of an e-bike from an outdoor rack in the same retail district—its lock was cut—and the theft of a licence plate from a vehicle parked in Ambleside. Police urge businesses and residents to review security measures and to report any suspicious activity.
And they wonder why they keep blocking affordable housing in west van… all police do is catch and release anyways.
