North Vancouver RCMP responded to a collision involving a 12-year-old on an e-scooter and a vehicle in the 3100 block of Colwood Drive on June 10, 2026.

Officers conducting proactive patrols this past weekend stopped a Honda with mismatched licence plates that did not belong to the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the driver and nearly $1,000 in fines.

In a social media post, the North Vancouver RCMP said the driver also did not have a valid driver’s licence and became uncooperative during the stop. The man refused to follow the officers’ directions and began opening the hood of the vehicle and working on the engine while officers were speaking with him.

The situation escalated, and the driver was ultimately arrested for obstruction. He also received nearly $1,000 in fines for having no insurance, improper licence plates, and driving without a valid licence.

Police said the incident occurred as part of ongoing proactive patrols focused on road safety. According to the post, routine traffic stops are intended to help identify violations early and prevent larger problems from developing on local roads.
