Six people were taken to hospital after they were stabbed in and outside the Lynn Valley library.
One suspect is in custody.
Police said it appears this was a lone suspect.
There was heavy police presence in the area and a twitter user has posted a video of the alleged suspect being taken into custody.

There is no ongoing threat to public, but North Vancouver RCMP is still looking for potential additional victims.
Any witnesses should please call police at 604-985-1311.
Amy Robertson of BC Emergency Services told the media as many as 11 ambulances responded to the scene and six people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Lynn Valley Library is closed for the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, the District of North Vancouver is also urging people to contact the North Vancouver RCMP if they have more information.

Meanwhile, IHIT is looking for witnesses or dash cam footage of the stabbing incident today.
“If you were here or you know or heard anything suspicious, if you maybe even heard the man that was taken into custody say something, whatever the case may be, we need to speak to you right away, or better yet come to the detachment,” Jang said.






Good gawd! I hope the rest of the stabbing victims survive. It’s an outrage that such carnage takes place on the North Shore. Perhaps the perpetrator has a mental illness. I understand that it is extremely difficult for troubled people to find help with their angst. They just get shuffled around, are forced to fill out countless forms, and actually have to apply for help. I think that many in need of help don’t have the ability to go through those hoops.
