The driver is now facing criminal charges for impaired driving.

The arrest came after several 911 calls were made about the driver travelling in the wrong direction, potentially causing a fatal accident, police said. The prompt response of officers ensured that the driver was intercepted before any collision could occur.

“The reckless actions of this driver could have had a deadly outcome. He is facing criminal charges as a result of the decisions he made that night. If you witness a suspected impaired driver, call police as soon as it is safe to do so,” North Van RCMP tweeted.
