A North Vancouver RCMP officer issued a 24-hour driving prohibition shortly after midnight after stopping an overcrowded vehicle and detecting alcohol on the driver’s breath.

According to police, the five-seater vehicle was carrying eight passengers when it was pulled over. The driver, who had reportedly committed to being the designated driver, was found to have consumed alcohol. An approved screening device (ASD) test was administered at the scene, and the driver provided a sample that resulted in the immediate prohibition.
Police are reminding the public that being a designated driver is more than a label—it is a responsibility that must be taken seriously to ensure the safety of all road users.
